Necklace Heaven

Posted by Doncrack Tuesday, July 20, 2010

It's true, I am in love, in love with Elva Fields. I've blogged before and no doubt I'll blog again. Her pieces... well, I'm lost for words. If jewellery is your thing then one of her beautiful pieces would make a simply perfect accent to your look. I can imagine choosing the gown to go with the necklace rather than choosing the necklace to go with the gown. Each handmade piece features vintage elements wich makes them eco-friendly and super unique. They're truly pieces of art. Many of the pieces are one off and over 40 new pieces have been popped on her website for summer as of today so if you don't want to miss out get in quick. Once they're gone they're gone. Visit shop.elvafields.com for range details.

Fine Designs

Posted by Doncrack Sunday, July 18, 2010

On Friday I came across some designs from Australian designer Anna Campbell and I was impressed. The goddess-like pieces are twisted, wrapped, draped, plaited and tied around the figure to create the most gorgeously feminine shapes possible. Anna's Bridal Collection features exquisite and distinctive embellishments including bows, ribbons, hand-made silk flowers and beaded fringing. Her gowns are perfect for the fashionable bride who dreams of a beautiful, romantic dress without restrictive and uncomfortable corsets, hoop skirts and stiff trains which make her designs perfectly suited to garden, outdoor and beach weddings. All Anna Campbell pieces are custom made to measure with brides able to take pieces from different designs to create their dream dress. The Anna Campbell Boutique is now open and is located at 309 Victoria Street, Brunswick in Victoria. For more details on her bridal and bridesmaids collections or to find an alternate stockist visit the website at www.annacampbell.com.au.

The Princess Diaries

Posted by Doncrack Monday, July 5, 2010

It's often said that tiara's are for Princess and unless you are, of course, a Princess you do not wear a tiara. Pfffttt... who says you can't be a Princess for a day? If you opt for this little sparkler I think you'll feel like a Princess long after the wedding. At roughly AUD$328 it's a piece that will be passed down from generation to generation, making it a prized possession and will, no doubt, become sought after amongst the girls in the family. Now... start the search for your Prince! Available to purchase at www.net-a-porter.com.

Snake Charmer

Posted by Doncrack Thursday, July 1, 2010

Not only does the great Oscar de la Renta make simply stunning gowns he also has a habit of creating drool worthy shoes. These little snake skin numbers would be welcome in my shoe cupboard any day. Although grey, they look strikingly silver with their sparkly embellishment. A great shoe if silver or grey is in your wedding palette and an even greater shoe for after the wedding. Who says you won't wear your wedding shoes again? Helen Rodrigues, in Sydney's Neutral Bay, sells a selection of de la Renta's wedding shoes. Visit her online at www.helenrodrigues.com.au or visit www.oscardelarenta.com for collection details.

It's a well known fact that buying a designer dress is an expensive excercise. It's always the way though, you see a dress you love, check out the price and bang, you feel a shot of pain running through your heart. It's also an expensive exercise dressing your bridesmaids. I've blogged about Elva Fields and her beautiful jewelery before. You take one look at bher pieces and you find yourself ohhhing and ahhhing... simply amazing! Her latest 2010 Holiday Collection, inspired by easy and effortless glamour, is made by hand in her Kentucky studio and incorporate vintage elements, making each piece eco-friendly and unique. Prices for earrings range between US$46-$98 and necklaces range between US$178-$398. The collection will be available come November online at www.elvafields.com and at various retailers across America, including select Anthropologie stores. I think her pieces would make truly amazing additions to a spectacular wedding or bridesmaids gown.

New Heritage

Posted by Doncrack Friday, May 28, 2010

If, like me, you've been pouring over the stills and snippets from Sex and the City 2 you'll have noticed both Sarah Jessica Parker and her alter-ego Carrie Bradshaw sporting many pieces from the label Halston Heritage. Announced in January, SJP has taken the reigns as designer/creative director. Halston Heritage is the secondary label to Halston, currently designed by Marios Schwab. If, like me (again!), you've fallen in love with some of the pieces, don't fret! It's easier (and cheaper) than you think to dress like the famed Miss CB. Many of the HH pieces are available online at Net-A-Porter, my favourite online designer hub. It's a fact that these pieces are on the top of many a girls wish list, which means they're hard to get your hands on, but online shopping makes it that much easier regardles of where in the world you are. So hop onto the Halston Heritage online shop at Net-A-Porter and get the Carrie look!

Big Shoes to Fill

Posted by Doncrack Wednesday, May 26, 2010

For those who have large feet I can imagine it's a rather challenging task trying to find shoes that actually fit. Since 2007 Lauren Whiting, owner of Adelaide's At Last Shoes, has been importing Italian shoes made specifically for larger feet. Boots, flats and heels are all on the menu, ranging in sizes from 41-46 (roughly 10-14.5). Lauren's also recently created Bless My Soul, a label of killer heels and classic flats catering for sizes 10-13. These ranges all include bridal shoes and can be purchased online. Ladies, let out sigh of relief!!! Visit www.atlastshoes.com.au and snap to it!

J is for Jayson

Posted by Doncrack Tuesday, May 25, 2010

There's no denying I'm a huge fan of Australian designer Jayson Brunsdon. His spring/summer collection shown at Rosemont Australian Fashion Week a couple of weeks back was no doubt 50's inspired. The collection is ridiculously wearable and would be oh so suitable for a garden or beach themed wedding. Tulip skirts, knot details and the cutest little dresses all made for a super pretty, feminine and overall amazing collection. Visit www.jaysonbrusndon.com for collection and stockist details.

A Silky Dream

Posted by Doncrack Monday, May 24, 2010

To me these Pedro Garcia delights look like a pretty cute wedding shoe. Nice size heel, platform to save the balls of your feet, silky white satin all with a cute frayed edge. I was also delighted to see they're at a pretty reasonable price, roughly AUD$312. Shopping online has never been easier so take this as the perfect chance to give it a crack if you haven't yet dared. You won't be disappointed! Visit www.net-a-porter.com to view the huge range of brands available all with a click of your mouse.

Fab Flats

Posted by Doncrack Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Elizabeth Syer, our girl in the know in London, sent me an email this morning alerting me to these fab flats that are taking the UK scene by storm - Coco Rose. A great idea for brides wanting a bit of relief from mile-high heels towards the end of the reception. Specially designed with a split sole, they can be easily folded and tucked into the smallest of bags. They would make a gift idea for all the girls in the wedding party.

They come in a variety of colours, including white, for £35 + shipping to anywhere in the world.

One of my favourite lifestyle boutiques in Sydney would have to be Becker Minty. Specialising in luxe homewares, gifts and mens and womens clothing it's the perfect place to shop for that unique, timeless and super trendy gift. A long time in the making, Becker Minty have now opened their online store. Featuring a wishlist option which enables friends and family to see exactly what you've got your little eyes on, you'll never need to give another hint again. More than just an online store, it also acts as a great gift (and rather swanky if I might add) registry option. With gorgeous gift wrapping and delivery here and overseas there's no excuse to receive gifts you don't love! To experience the Becker Minty online shop visit www.beckerminty.com.

If you're looking for a wedding gown, maids dresses or even gorgeous suits make sure you pop in to Becker Minty to view their gorgeous collection. Becker Minty Woman has a beautiful range of Aurelio Costarella pieces, one of which we've featured in our current issue #14. We also featured a simply luxe men's Etiqueta Negra black velvet jacket. Too suave for words!
