Planning Your Attire For Beach Weddings

Executive summary about Beach Weddings By Ashlee Newlon and David I Leslie

For your own personal reasons, you have chosen to have your nuptials on a beautiful beach.

Planning a beach wedding ceremony offers the opportunity for a spectacular setting and wonderful memories but it also presents challenges that would not be encountered with a more traditional indoor setting. To be able to enjoy your special day, the key will be in the preparation and planning of the special requirements for a Beach Wedding. Here are some important factors to consider when selecting the beach wedding attire.

Are you more formal, modest, reserved, casual, trendy, chic, dramatic, Victorian, contemporary, etc.? Do you wish to emulate the location you've chosen? F or example Hawaii, Caribbean Islands, Mexico, or Florida and California beaches.

STYLE AND COLORS - You will want the fashion colors you choose to be complimentary to your theme, location and other ceremonial accessories. If you are in a quandary as to suitable style and colors, take the time to browse through travel and fashion magazines, the internet, and clothing stores. It may be helpful to talk to a couple of fashion consultants. Allow plenty of time to coordinate with your bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl and ring bearer depending on the size of your wedding party. Choose styles that will be most flattering for everyone. If there are glaring figure "challenges", ask for their input. Communicate as much information ahead of time as possible.

BUDGET - Establish a reasonable budget for yourselves and your wedding party. SEASON AND TIME OF DAY - Research the climate of your chosen beach location. Are you, the wedding party, family and friends going to be exposed to the elements during the hottest part of the day or have you decided to have the ceremony during the cooler part of the late afternoon or early evening?

ACCOMMODATIONS AND SET UP - Considering your theme, budget, weather conditions, etc., research and secure appropriate shelter. Investigate canopies, seating, "runners", etc. to insure everyone is as comfortable as is financially feasible. If your wedding ceremony is going to be at a beach resort, you will be able to arrange the use of the hotel's facilities.

FLOWERS FOR THE WEDDING PARTY - The bridal bouquet, bridesmaids' and mother's corsages, floral bouquet for the flower girl, and Gentlemen's and father's boutonnieres must compliment everyone's attire. Again, you will want to consider your theme, colors, styles, location, etc.

JEWELRY - Make your selections carefully and tastefully. Jewelry should only enhance your attire and never overwhelm. Remember the wedding party should be uniformly clad and not "upstage" the bride.

Now that you have carefully planned for this important aspect of your beach wedding, you can be rest assured you and your wedding party will greatly enjoy this very special day.

beach weddingsWhen you are planning a beach wedding, there are a lot of things you should take into consideration. Most likely there will be a lot of people that are willing to give you their ; however it is important to remember that your wedding is about you. Beach weddings can be a lot of fun. The ocean and the sand set a natural, romantic stage for your ceremony. While most people hope for a beautiful day for their wedding, the weather close to the ocean can be unpredictable. It is important for you to have a backup plan in case the weather turns bad.

Just remember while it is important that you and your fiancé stay dry, it is also important that yours guests stay dry. Make sure your tent is large enough to accommodate all of your guests.

You could try checking around as the wedding approaches to see if a hotel may be willing to accommodate your request. If a hotel is not already booked for the day they may be willing to give you a reasonable rate. If you plan to have your guests seated during your wedding you will need to rent chairs. Often time's party planning agencies will recommend that you rent a floor for your beach wedding. Most party rental companies will be able to accommodate this request. If you cannot find a place to rent a floor, try calling a wedding planner. A wedding planner will be able to give you some helpful hints on planning your beach wedding, even if you do not need full wedding planning services.

You need to think about what kind of shoes your wedding party will wear. This is important if you are getting married in the sand. Often times at beach weddings you see bridal parties that are barefoot. If you do not like the idea of your wedding party being barefoot, then simple sandals work really well. High heels will sink into the sand and make walking very difficult!

When it comes to beach weddings the possibilities are endless. The limit to your creativity is your imagination!

I don’t if you have ever noticed, but depending on the time of day, the mood of the beach can be very different. First thing in the morning it is quite & serene, by midday it is a hub of excitement & the centre of activity, by dusk calm is restored & as romantic a setting as you will find anywhere. Because of its natural characteristics, you don’t need to go overboard on the decorations either, there is always something new to look at.

A beach setting is perfect for an intimate party with just a small number of guests. Have your ceremony at dusk when the scene is at its most tranquil & romantic. A dusk or dawn setting would also provide a spectacular backdrop to your wedding photos.

For a larger gathering choose an afternoon reception when everyone can get together & have some fun in the sun!

To set your finer details such as wedding favors & invitations, here are a few ideas…

Building Sand Castles in the Sun. Hire a professional sand sculptor to create a fabulous sand castle or sea themed sculpture for you on the beach. Or provide your guests with buckets & spades & have a sandcastle building competition. Make sure you have a great prize for the winner!

Have a Pirate Wedding. Throw a themed party & rent pirate costumes. Decorate your tables with a stash of stolen treasure & give your guests wedding favors in miniature treasure chests. You could theme your invitations to look like treasure maps or have a real life treasure on the beach. When it is time for your take your leave arrange to sail away into the sunset!

How about an "I Dream of Jeannie" beach wedding theme? Cover the beach with decorative glass bottles like the one she was found in. You could also use these same bottles as wedding favors, get your guests to retrieve one before the sea claims it!

A Surfing theme would be tons of fun. Go for a casual look with a simple dress & a loose hairstyle with a beach themed hair comb. Dress the men in Hawaiian shirts & casual pants. Play the beach boys at the reception & set up a bar using a surf board atop of two saw horses.

Don’t assume that a beach wedding is out of the question because you don’t live near the sea. Remember a beach is a stretch of sand along the shores of a body of water, which can include lakes & rivers. Failing that, have sand brought in & create your own in your garden or by a pool! Just don’t forget your sunscreen!
