Glitter in my Eyes

Posted by Doncrack Monday, November 30, 2009

So, I have this dress that I've purchased for one of my Christmas parties and I am having shoe issues. I've searched high and low, scouring the shelves of every shop, department store and online boutique and I can't find anything. How is this possible? I know I'm beyond fussy but it's getting ridiculous! Then, like a flash of shiny light, I spotted these beauties. Of course they're on my favourite online store Net-a-Porter (UK based) and of course they're Christian Louboutin and of course they're simply gorgeous. Of course they have a rather hefty price tag, but after all it's Christmas, and I'm hoping Santa makes a quick delivery of these to David Jones. In one of my moments I could easily be pursuaded!

50s style wedding

Emma and Nick chose the gorgeous setting that is Ness Gardens on The Wirral for their wedding this summer. Joanne Flemming Design in Brighton made Emma's beautifully elegant 50s style wedding dress, and her Audrey Hepburn style veil was made specially made by Kelly Spence. The bridesmaids looked fab in black polkadot swing dresses with a pink petticoat and matching hair flower.

50s wedding photographs

The couple completed the retro feel by hiring a traditional red London bus from Routemaster Buses to transport their guests!

Thank you to Elegant and Wild for the fab photographs.

One of my bride was kind enough to send me a photo of myself & her wedding photographer.
It was taken by a guest at one of my summer weddings in France @ Chateau de Champlatreux.
It shows the "Man at work": Happy, relaxed, goofy, enjoying a wonderful day.
I am showing this picture not so much to prove my good look but rather to convey the mood of a professional photographer at work!
I always tell my brides that they should make sure to book a photographer who loves his wedding work and does not photograph weddings only to pay the bills. i believe a wedding photographer has to be passionate about his craft in order to excel at the task at hand. Like a good wine, twenty years of experience transcend into a jolly fellow whose job ( his passion ) has become second nature. It is most important to get everyone to simply enjoy the photographer's company very quickly. Only then will you forget the fact that you are being photographed.
That's when magic happens!

Designer Wedding Dress

Designer Wedding Dress Neckline Cuts

By Arianna Jordan

When buying a Designer Wedding Dress, it is important to be aware of the various factions neckline that there. It is important to remember that different cuts compliment different types of the body. With so many options available today, starting with the beloved, cut to a strapless watch Off-The-shoulder style, the bride may not know where to start! If you are in a decision Wednesday on a designer wedding dress, who knows all about the specific cleavage of abbreviations can help you make the right decision.

Sweetheart

Designer Wedding DressSweetheart neckline resembles the upper part of the heart, hence the name. This cleavage is a good option for fuller-figured bride, as stressed by the chest. In most cases, sweetheart neckline is overlay net material rising above the heart, or some form of thin tubes, both of which provide a more compact form to the torso. This effect also makes the neck look longer and more romantic. The bride with a more boyish figure should be avoided Sweetheart neckline.

Strapless

While some brides should avoid strapless neckline, a miracle for others. In many cases, strapless neckline can be paired with a sweetheart neckline and a straight neckline that gives the illusion of a smaller figure of the bride. Women with broad shoulders should avoid strapless wedding dress, but with those fragile shoulders and collarbone will do quite well with this style.

Not on the shoulder

Off-The-shoulder wedding gown neckline is very popular. Just as you can imagine, cleavage begins just below the shoulders and stresses the neck, shoulders and collarbone. Off-The-shoulder, has a small cut sleeves, which cover the upper arm. This neckline flattering to all figures, but with the bride is full of weapons or problems with their shoulders should avoid it. This style is perfect for pear-shaped women, and all who would like to show their shoulders.

Sabrina

Designer Wedding DressSabrina neckline, also known as Batu neckline, perfect for brides with a certain type of body. This cleavage, cut straight across, it should curve clavicle, edging close to the edge of the shoulders. Sabrina is usually accompanied by a sleeve, although many designers are now pairing it with a sleeveless styles of clothing. Well-endowed women should avoid Sabrina neckline.

Portrait

Women with full arms and prominent collarbones can seriously consider the portrait neckline for a wedding dress. By analogy with the Off-The-shoulder style, but with a fabric portrait of a spoon over his shoulder (from tip to tip). If you are uncertain clavicle, it is probably not for you neck.

Scoop

Any person, regardless of what type of body, may be a scoop neckline. This is the ultimate classic style, and can be low or high "Cut." In many cases, supplemented by the lower front shovel bucket in the back.

Halter

If you have broad shoulders, you can try on a wedding dress over. Regarding the particular strap that wraps around the neck which is fastened by tying the straps or buttons. The neck is usually high with deep armhole and is ideal for very tall women (usually 5? 7? And above.) If you have narrow shoulders, neck excuse can not work for you.

V-Neck

V-neck dress quite understandable; neckline descends in front of imitating the form of letters? V.? Notches can be supplemented by a similar dip in the back, but not always. This neckline draws attention from the breast and is a great alternative for brides with B-or C-CUP. Most brides-to-be can take V-neck.

Jewel

Designer Wedding DressJewel neckline is quite a new style in the way of designer wedding dress. It is also often called the T-shirt neckline as it looks almost like the average T-shirt. Decollete rounded and sits at the base of the neck. Some dresses even play with the idea of t-shirt and place decorative pocket on the front panel. Jewel neckline is great for a modest figure, because it enhances the bust. Some women want to avoid this neckline as it will make your breasts seem larger.

After reading all these reductions wedding dress neckline, you may think you know exactly which one is right for you. But do not forget that this is only general suggestions, and that you are best to try on any clothes, regardless of the neck that you would when shopping. Also keep in mind that just because you love the photo, the dress could not look straight at you. Always try on a wedding dress (more than once) to keep your options open.

These days more and more couples are paying for their own wedding, and they are turning to lenders for loans so they can have the wedding day of their dreams.

Step 1 Taking out a loan for your wedding can be good for your marriage. There is no better way to find out about your partner’s spending habits and your compatibility about financial matters.

Step 2 The actual process of taking out a wedding loan is easy – the difficult part is figuring out how much you need and how much you can afford.

Step 3
Loans for weddings usually start around $10,000 and run into the six-figure category.

Step 4 Before you approach a lender, decide together what you want to spend on your big day. The cost of an average wedding in the United States is almost as high as the average annual household income...and rising.

Step 5 Make a list of what you’d like at your ideal wedding and, if the final figure makes either of you uncomfortable, start paring down.

Step 6 One way to get a handle on costs is to list the expenses as necessary, unnecessary but desired, and frivolous extras. You certainly will need a venue, but do you really need to splurge so much on flowers and ribbons.

Step 7 You should also consider what you can afford to pay back each month on your loan before you get one. You don’t want your wedding loan to become a burden for the rest of your lives together, so don’t borrow more than you can repay in 3 years.

Step 8 Make sure what you decide about the scale of the event and what it will cost is a unanimous decision. That way you will avoid any future ill will or resentment. You’re in this for better or worse and you’ll be paying for your loan together.

Step 9 Wedding loans exist in 2 forms-–secured and unsecured. To secure a loan you can use your home, car, or an alternative form of security like stocks and bonds. Unsecured wedding loans require no security.

Step 10 Interest rates are reasonable on wedding loans, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t shop around. Wedding loans do not usually have any fee or pre-payment penalties. Do your research to find the best rates and terms.

Step 11 Compare options like refinancing an existing home loan and other loan options to determine if a wedding loan is the best choice in terms of what you will have to repay.

Step 12 Even if you have bad credit it’s likely you’ll still be able to get a wedding loan. Get your credit report before you apply for the wedding loan so you’ll be able to make a good impression with your lender by alerting him to your situation.

Step 13 Ask friends, family and co-workers for referrals to a good lender, just in case they got good deals in the past. Most likely, however, you will end up shopping for your wedding loan on the Internet.

Step 14 If you choose an online lender you will be required to fill in a few simple forms on the lender’s Web page, giving details about your occupation and income, before the process begins in earnest.

Step 15 Before you formalize the loan you will probably be asked to produce some if not all of the following: Copy of deed to any property; Last 2 years' W-2's, tax returns and current pay stub, or two years' tax returns if self-employed; Proof of income from alimony, child support, lawsuit settlement or other income sources; Copies of your last 3-6 bank statements and a list of all open credit accounts (account numbers, payment amounts, and balances). Make sure you have all of the items in hand before you talk to your lender, as it will shorten the loan approval process.

Pledge of Personal Property (as Collateral)

Tips & Warnings !!!!
Don’t run up your credit cards to pay for your wedding. Wedding loans offer far better interest rates. If a lender rejects you, ask for reasons why and what you need to do to secure a wedding loan approval on your second try. Sometimes paying down some credit cards can increase your credit score just enough to qualify for your wedding loan. Don’t mortgage your future happiness by spending more than you can afford for what will amount to one day’s fun.The Federal Trade Commission warns against using lenders that encourage you to falsify your application to get the loan

Island Dreaming

Posted by Doncrack Wednesday, November 25, 2009

As the year comes to an end I always find myself daydreaming about holidays and places I would love to visit. One of those places is Santorini - especially if I could stay somewhere like this! Perivolas is a world-class small luxury inn perched on the cliffs high above the Aegean Sea. It is only a short walk from Oia, one of the most charming villages on the island, and offers a tranquil oasis far removed from the stresses of everyday life. Sounds perfect for the ultimate honeymoon! The accomodation, pool, location and view are all amazing - but I think the best bit is the breakfast which includes apple pie, cookies, pastires, fruit and greek yogurt - wouldn't it be lovely to start every day with apple pie!!

Winter Wedding Centerpieces

Posted by Doncrack

Winter-Wedding Centerpieces

by http://www.best-wedding-centerpieces.com/

Time for snowflakes, lovely red poinsettias against crispy white, pine cones,

adorable mistletoes, roaring fires, romantic bells, or santas hat… what a great season for getting married! It is so easy to get your imagination going and find absolutely great winter themed wedding centerpieces!

The flowers in season for this occasion are poinsettias, camellias, snowdrops, hyacinth, lisianthus, lilacs, nerines and irises.

Decide on the color and theme for your winter wedding. Red will give you a lively and festive mood, while icy blue will provide that magical wonderland theme. And white, well, what can I say, white is always so elegant and simple! White flowers just work every time!

Flowers and candles also mix really well when creating your winter wedding centerpieces. Just make sure the candles are unscented, as we don’t want them to overtake the lovely scent of the flowers. Add ribbons to the candles and tie them together in pairs.

Sometimes you also want to think about artificial flowers. They go really well in the winter as it is not the usual blossoming time of year. Use lovely frosted glass vases to hold your candles; you can choose to have a variety of colors.

What about confetti shaped as hearts, or stars, all around your wedding centerpieces? They sure add a festive feel to the occasion!

Natural elements are a great addition to your winter theme. Mistletoe, holly, berries and pine cones they all convey that traditional winter feel. Use them in your arrangements; don’t stick just to the traditional flower centerpiece. Berries, pomegranates, ivy, eucalyptus, evergreen…. And the one element you do not get in any other season: snow.

Use fake snow to decorate your centerpieces. The white in the background will help other colors spark to life. Arrange with pine cones and ever green tree. Add candles to the theme. Sprinkle confetti, flower petals or loose individual pine cones. Bells add a brilliant touch to your wedding centerpieces. Tie them together with rich colored ribbons; red or green are perfect for the occasion.

You can go all cozy with a Christmas theme. Have different sized Christmas trees on the tables to make them individual. Have bigger Christmas trees placed in the reception area. That sure will give you that lovely and warm winter feel!

If you have money to spare, another great idea is to have ice sculptures tailor made for your wedding. Have one big one made for the main table, and then ask the sculptor to create smaller ones that would be placed on the individual tables. They sure will impress your guests

Taking His Name, Keeping Your Own Name, and Options In-Between

According to recent surveys, somewhere between 60 and 80 percent of brides take their husband's last name when they get married. But is it right for you? Here are some things to consider before you take his name:
The Pros of Taking Your Husband's Name:

    * If you're planning on having children, you'll find life is much easier when going on trips (especially when traveling internationally), dealing with schools, and even just dealing with other parents, if you're easily recognizable as being one family.

    * If you don't like your own last name, here's an easy excuse for a change

    * Remember doodling Mrs. Janet Presley or Mrs. Janet Timberlake on your notebooks? If you were this type of little girl, now you'll have the satisfaction of doodling a name and getting to actually use it.
    * Many brides find that having the same last name as their husband helps them feel more like a family, and a new name is an important symbol of the journey they are embarking on together

    * Monogramming, personalized doormats and dinner reservations become easier (although I hope you're not changing your name for a doormat!)

    * Let's face it, since so many brides do take their husband's last names, people will expect it and will already start addressing you as Mrs. Jones, whether you like it or not. (You may even get that personalized doormat as a wedding present) Perhaps going with that flow is not a bad option.

The Cons of Taking Your Husband's Last Name

    * You're getting married, not becoming a different person. Changing your last name may feel like a loss of self or a loss of identity.

    * It may go against your politics – after all, why does the woman have to change her name, and not the man? Furthermore, changing your name may imply that you are more old-fashioned or traditional than you actually are.

    * If you are the last of your family with your last name, you may not want to give it up.

    * If your name is interesting, or alliterative, and his name is hard to pronounce or just dissonant, it may be better to stick with the name you were born with.

    * If you've become known in your career field, it may be hard to reestablish your reputation with a different last name.

Fortunately it's not just as black and white as his name or your name.
Other options besides just taking his name

    * Hyphenating your last names – sometimes just the bride hyphenates, while the groom stays with his last name solo, but most of the time both change their names. You all can decide whose name goes first!

    * Keeping your maiden name as a middle name. This way, you can choose to sometimes put Amanda Smith Jones and sometimes just Amanda Jones, depending on the circumstance

    * If you're worried about being the last in the family with that name, consider taking your husband's name, but using your maiden name as a first or middle name for a child. So if your name was Lisa Alice Fielding, your son could be Fielding Charles Burwell.

    * He could take your last name. While only a small percentage of couples are going this route, it will mark you all as modern folks who aren't afraid to change up tradition. If you've got the cool last name, and his is, well, dorky, both of you can win with this option.

    * You can combine the last names into a new name. If your last name is Miller and his is Peltson, why can't you all become the Millsons? Or there's really nothing stopping you from choosing a new name all together – think of it as a chance to make a clean break.

    * Consider changing your name legally, so as to make traveling with the kids, dealing with schools and other personal matters easier, but still using your name professionally. It will be a small hassle setting things up when you change jobs, but will make day-to-day life much simpler.
