Wedding Reception Centerpieces

Posted by Doncrack Thursday, April 30, 2009

If you are planning your wedding you must not forget about the importance of a beautiful and stylish wedding reception. You can always pay someone to do it for you, that is ok but what if the colors and arrangements will not suit your needs? Take some time with your husband -to -be and choose your own wedding reception centerpieces which will inspire you guests and show them what colors you like and what type of person your are inside.

When we talk about centerpieces this are mostly the decorations you put on tables for your guests where they usually eat. Let them have a wonderful meal with beautiful table around them which will not make them boring. The most common used centerpieces are flowers and candles which I think you should definitely use, but be careful on how you use them, which ones and how many of them, this are the most important steps you must be careful when placing your wedding reception centerpieces on tables.

Here are some tips to help you arrange your centerpieces:

size of the table - don't use too many centerpieces on a small table. Make it look simple and beautiful by adding maybe one or two flowers with candles on a table for four persons.
don't use just flowers and candles - why? Because there are so many different centerpieces which you can buy. From different ice sculptures and castle centerpieces which are really beautiful.
be careful on height - don't use too high centerpieces like candles. Use small ones; as a matter of fact you can use floating candles also!
don't use only centerpieces - use also different decorations like photos of the couple.
You have so many options when making your reception look perfect and wedding reception centerpieces are the main factor to help you out so be careful and take some time to arrange all that. Good luck!

We give only good tips and we offer only most beautiful centerpieces on our wedding reception centerpieces site. Also with best wedding reception centerpiece ideas to take a look at for free.

Wedding Table Decoration Idea

decorations can be the highlight of your wedding theme, or can be a complementary alternative.

Here are some ideas to help you plan your ideas:

1. For dimmer venues, use tealight candles in little glass boxes, to be placed along side each table setting.

2. Large clear glass bowls filled with sand and floating candles make a great centerpiece. 3. Sprinkle rose petals on tables for a romantic touch.

If you are having an informal wedding, simple white porcelain plates with gold or silver edges are good.

4. Simple and plain dining ware deserves a more extravagant centerpiece.

5. Wrap chairs with organza ribbons in dark shades of ivory or gold, and use table napkins of the same color. Tie alternating styles of flowers on each chair for some variety, and use simple matte gold plates. For the centerpiece, use a lilac and ivory combination for flowers and candles.

6. For something different, use a square table, and square plates. Choose one color and work around lighter shades of it for the table settings. For example, ice blue table cloths to go to with ice blue ribbons around the chairs. Table napkins come in a shade or two lighter, and leave the plates white for some contrast.

7. Instead of using just one vase with flowers, mix them up by placing more of smaller vases with colorful flowers as a centerpiece.

8. For a minimal look, use clear glass plates with white and silver accents. For the centerpiece, a large clear glass vase with long stems of flower buds in it, instead of a bunch of leaves and open flowers. Use brown place mats with white plates, and use deep red cloth to drape the chairs and tables. Deep blue accents can be placed in the table napkins and colors of the flowers.

9. Depending on the color of your theme, fill the centerpiece bowl with fruits matching the theme to give a variety in texture.

10. Use raspberry and gold for a refreshing table theme. Place the flowers on the perimeter of another centerpiece of short red candles. Use matte gold plates and blush pink table napkins and chair drapers.

Wedding Reception Table Decorations

There are lots of ways to decorate your wedding reception tables with flowers, favors, candles, plants, fabric and place card holders. Floral arrangements are a very popular way to decorate the tables at your wedding reception. For an outdoor wedding, use flowers and greenery in pots to decorate the tables. Use candles alongside flower arrangements to give an evening reception a beautiful glow. Add candles for an elegant look.

Place flower pot pens in bunches at tables in lieu of flowers. Use fabric as a table runner. Use themed place card holders to display place cards. At a garden wedding, use Victorian-style tea light place card holders for an elegant table display.

For a spring wedding, use floral favors in the décor. These daisy votive holders and daisy candle favors offer a fresh spring feel to your wedding reception tables. For a summer wedding, add coconut candles to the tables for a tropical, luau theme. Mix the coconut candles with these palm tree candles to complete the luau look.

An autumn wedding calls for a warm palette of color. Use bright red and yellow table runners with these autumn leaf place card holders. Use these fall-colored boxes with brown or gold bows filled with Jordan almonds to decorate the guest book table. Arrange the place cards for the table around the tree. Create a winter wonderland scene on your wedding reception tables with these snowmen candles.

The Ultimate Bride Movies
A few weeks ago I sat down with a girlfriend on a cold, wet saturday night and watched one of my favourite movies from the 90's, Father of the Bride. I think, growing up, I had visioned my wedding day to be very similar to that of Annie's Banks' - a tall, dashing husband, a marquee wedding at home, the dress, and of course the wedding planner. I look back now and think there's no way I'd wear a dress like that and I doubt I'd ever have the patience for a planner like Franq. Although, it did get me thinking about the best wedding movies from the last few decades. They make you laugh, the can give you ideas and they're the perfect night in for you and your girls. Here's some of my fave suggestions...

The Payoff
It sure does pay to be blantantly obvious about secret wishes and deep-seated desires... imagine my delight when I arrived at my desk to find a GORGEOUS little package.

Firstly - tiny stationery is a bit of 'thing' for me - the teeny, tiny pink envelope is definitely a keeper. Then the beautifully coordinated cotton tape in the hottest of pinks sent my heart racing...

Then to find 3 fabulous tubes of the beautifully-designed Marvis toothpastes!

Thank you soooooo much Kimberlee from Brown Button Trading - you have made my day. All I have to do now is conquer my intense desire to place these marvels into some kind of uber-chic still life, never to be touched because they're just too gorgeous to use!

A Do-It-Yourself Planner

A do-it-yourself wedding planner. By: Dhirendra

It can be tempting to avoid the whole wedding planning fiasco by hiring a professional, but these individuals do not come cheaply, so taking charge yourself can be an excellent way to save a great deal of cash. Wedding planning is an art and a lot harder than it looks, so don’t underestimate the time and effort that you will need to put into even the most basic of weddings.

Wedding Planning – The Basics

The basics of wedding planning is to be organized and thorough; it is well worth having at least one extra person to help you with the arrangements, two heads are most certainly better than one when it comes to wedding planning.

A great way to start is to make a list of the dates and items that simply cannot change, for example the venue or the key guests. This is fundamental, as all other aspects can be altered and planned around the key items.

Secondly, when it comes to wedding planning, it is important to decide on the ‘feel’ that you want for your wedding. For example, do you want your wedding to have a relaxed or informal theme? Is there a common hobby or activity that you can draw on as an underlying idea for your wedding? For instance, do the bride and groom both love dogs or do they both enjoy water sports? A very simple lead can be just enough to get you started!

Wedding Planning – Behave Like a Professional

Wedding planning professionals are generally individuals, who are full of ideas, are organized and can get the most out of providers. While a professional may have many ideas at their fingertips you will have to look around and think carefully about what you are hoping to achieve. Why not get ideas by asking friends and relatives, what they have seen in recent weddings that worked particularly well (or indeed did not work at all), so that you can take the best ideas and ditch the worst!

Stay organized. Keep accurate records of everything that you see and do. Go overboard with your records as, at some point, you are almost certainly going to be in the position of not being able to remember where you saw that special item!

When it comes to wedding planning, communication is key. Make sure that all providers are fully aware of what you expect, when you expect it and what you expect to pay. Get everything in writing and ensure that you tell everyone if there is any change (no matter how small it may appear).

Be professional, be realistic and keep the suppliers informed; believe me it will really help to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Plan your own wedding site! Easy and fun! Relieve your stress by keeping all your information in one place ~ on the website!

Vegas Wedding

Executive Summary By Peter Emerson and Dean Forster

vegas wedding

Las VegasWedding Chapels

Other than a legal court and a church, is a place where couples get legally married.

Las Vegas is very famous for its large number of wedding chapels. Most of the old, traditional wedding chapels in Las Vegas are small in size. A wedding ceremony package offered at the wedding chapels normally includes the wedding chapel fee, basic wedding flowers, a video of the ceremony, photo packages, chapel time and a wedding coordinator. These days there are many packages offered by Las Vegas wedding chapels, such as special Elvis Presley weddings, , etc. The costs to stage a wedding in a good wedding chapel vary. In Las Vegas, a simple yet memorable ceremony at a wedding chapel can be held for about 50 dollars.

vegas wedding hotel

Las VegasWedding Chapels for Memorable Weddings in Style

Gambling and wedding -- these are the two things for which Las Vegas is infamous. Las Vegas wedding chapels line the street, and celebrity or not, you can have a Las Vegas wedding with all the glitz and glamor -- you can even have Elvis stand in as a witness or officiate your wedding! Las Vegas has hundreds of Elvis impersonators. In fact, many Las Vegas wedding chapels have their own Elvis impersonators. Getting married in one of these Las Vegas wedding chapels is sure fodder for future grandkids.

There are Las Vegas wedding chapels that can host planned, elegant and sophisticated wedding ceremonies -- minus Elvis. While most of the weddings that happen in Las Vegas wedding chapels are couples who have eloped, there is a growing trend of couples getting married in Las Vegas wedding chapels who bring their wedding entourage with them -- the parents, maid of honor, best man, bridesmaids and groomsmen. Compared with the traditional wedding ceremony and reception that involve renting venues, hiring caterers, entertainers and wedding planners, having the wedding at any one of the Las Vegas wedding chapels is considerably cheaper. Aside from Las Vegas wedding chapels, a number of hotels can host wedding ceremonies and do have the facilities to host such.

Every wedding is special. If you are after a memorable wedding in style, consider having it in Las Vegas, either in one of the Las Vegas wedding chapels or one of the famous hotels.

Pink and Green Wedding Centerpieces

Executive Summary By Bridget Mora and Bryan Burbank

Pink and green is one of the prettiest color combinations to use for your wedding. For beautiful at any time of the year, use pink and green flowers to create your displays.

Pink and green flowers are perfect for the bride who is wearing a timeless gown with pearl bridal jewelry. The parrot tulips can be combined with exotic flowers such as green cymbidium orchids; the more delicate pale pink tulips would be lovely when accented with soft green gray lamb's ear.

There are countless other fantastic pink and green centerpiece ideas for weddings of any style or season. A large tall vase overflowing with pink and green hydrangeas would be lovely for an elegant summer affair. Peonies and garden roses are two of the most scrumptious flowers that you can use in your centerpieces. You can create let the pink flowers take center stage by designing floral displays in a wide range of pink colors. To add in the fresh green contrast color, place the arrangements in vintage green hobnail glass vases.

Submerged floral centerpieces are all the rage these days, and they would work beautifully with the pink and green color combination. One of the best choices for flowers to submerge in a tall clear cylinder is green orchids. Layer in stems of pink berries, and for a finishing touch, adhere a tailored pink and green silk ribbon to the top of each glass cylinder. There are a surprising number of other options for and accents to layer in with pink blossoms in your centerpieces.

The Best Flower Wedding Centerpieces - Find Flowers For Your Wedding

Of course you want to make sure that the flowers you choose fit into your color scheme of your wedding. If you have major budget restrictions for your wedding and you may want to consider buying the flowers also in doing the centerpiece your self. This can be a great way that you can save money and still have great flowers for your wedding.

If you have decided to make the flowers yourself you can make it fun and exciting by letting your bridesmaids help you with the arrangements. Next you want to search for a floral wholesaler they can offer you the flowers at an affordable price. If your budget is low and take advantage of doing a lot of the floral work yourself because it can save you money and also can be a lot of fun.

Wedding Hairstyles

Executive Summary By Bryan Burbank & Antoinette Boulay

Popular Wedding Hairstyles For 2009

One of the most special days is your wedding day and it takes time to prepare everything from the dress to the flowers and the most important wedding day hairstyle. It is important to choose a style that is both in style and also one that you like and feels comfortable on you. If you are a slender build then you may want to go with the up look so that it shows off your neck line and dress.

The trend for this year is to have big curls it seems that this is in style and whether you wear it up or down the curls are what is hot for 2009. Remember that choosing a hairstyle can be one of the most important aspects of your wedding planning.

Tips for Choosing Wedding Updos

For many brides the hairstyle they choose for their wedding day is almost as important as the dress they choose. While every bride wants her hair to look great on her wedding day, there are also many factors to consider in choosing a style. Women with longer hair often have an especially difficult time deciding on a hairstyle.

updos takes a great deal of planning. The bride has a lot of factors to consider when choosing a hairstyle. The shape of the face is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing wedding updos. This is important because certain styles of updos are more appealing on faces of a particular shape while other styles may create an unappealing look. For example some hairstyles may make a round face appear even rounder while other hairstyles may create a slenderizing illusion.

The veil or headpiece which will be worn should also be considered when choosing wedding updos. Once the is chosen, the bride to be can start choosing a hairstyle.

The process of choosing wedding updos usually begins with paging through wedding magazines or scrolling through websites. Seeing models with you like can give you the general idea of what type of hairstyle you will choose.

The next step in the process of choosing wedding updos is to visit a salon to experiment with different styles. Once you have chosen a stylist you can do a trial run to see how the hairstyle looks with the headpiece.

Preferably the trial run to experiment with different wedding updos should take place close to the date of the wedding.

Bridal Fashion Week, New York, Spring 2010

Here's the remaining pics of my favourite collections from Bridal Fashion Week. I'm a huge fan of Angel Sanchez. His gowns are original and well structured. I also loved Amsale's gorgeous full gowns. The halterneck style is just so classy and elegant. A great selection of short dresses graced the catwalks this year so if you're in the market for a mini you'll be able to draw pleanty of inspiration from the American's.

Cute as a....
Brown Button. Our lovely friend Kimberlee from Brown Button blog has opened a store. Good on her. Honestly don't know where she finds the time to work full time, host a most-entertaining blog AND start up a webstore - but she must have super reserves of energy somewhere.

Brown Button Trading has some gorgeous products for sale. My favourite is the range of Marvis Toothpastes.

Marvis Toothpastes from $7.95 + postage

Finally I have found a tube of paste that would look good in the bathroom. Now all I have to do is find a beautiful wooden toothbrush like the ones at Baileys in the UK (have tried to buy but they only ship them with the oak holder and I don't really want that - but may be willing to buy it anyway just for the brushes!).

Toothbrush holder with toothbrush from £14 + postage

[Note to Colgate, Oral B etc... please, please, please design a range of pastes and brushes that are aesthetically pleasing whilst also doing their job.]

Now, together with the range of simply stunning products by Watkins in the US, I think I would be set.

Etiquette for Brides

Posted by Doncrack

Whether we admit it or not ~ Wedding Etiquette is still an important issue to many of us. Don't you hear yourself complaining about some weddings that you have attended? Maybe you have heard some friends who have attended a wedding ceremony and later learned that he or she was not invited to the wedding reception.

Although it is acceptable and is within the Wedding Etiquette standard to invite some guests only at the wedding reception and some only at the wedding reception, the guests should be informed of this fact before hand. These instances want us to shout: Learn some manners!

For brides out there who are getting married next year, it will be for your own good if you would buy Emily Post's book on Wedding Etiquette. It will teach you the Wedding Etiquette basics and Wedding Etiquette blunders. Knowing what violates and follows Wedding Etiquette will help you go through your big day, hassle and stress free.

-- Basic Wedding Etiquette for Brides

On what to wear.

Modern Wedding Etiquette allows brides to wear any design that she wants, in any color. Brides are not anymore limited to wearing ultra white wedding dress with sleeves. They may wear a tube, halter or spaghetti strapped wedding dress in creme, beige or pastel colors.

But for the sake of Wedding Etiquette, she should also consider her cultural background and her church's dress requirement. If your church requires you to wear a shawl over a tube wedding dress, then you must do so.

If the minister or priest thinks that your red wedding dress is inappropriate for the church and ask you to replace your $10,000 designer wedding dress for a white wedding dress, then you should take it off and buy a white ready-to-wear wedding gown at Macy's.

On who to invite.

It is a basic Wedding Etiquette for a bride to talk to her groom on who should be invited . Remember that two of you who will get married, not only you. It will be a violation of Wedding Etiquette if you will invite persons your groom doesn't want to see, such as your old flame or his old boss that he had an argument even though you are on speaking terms with his old boss. It is not just about Wedding Etiquette, it is in fact about the issue of respect.

If it is your second marriage, you should not invite your ex-spouse or your ex-parents-in-law. Even if you are in good terms with your ex, Wedding Etiquette dictates that you should not invite them. This is to avoid unnessary confrontations or wedding drama. Your guest will also feel uncomfortable around your ex.

But there is an exception to this Wedding Etiquette. If your children of your ex-spouse has requested the presence of their father, then you should talk about it with your groom. If he agrees, then invite your ex to your wedding. But there is an alternative to this, however.

You can invite your guest for a dinner at your home after your wedding or honeymoon. This private dinner is more quiet and will save you the trouble of explaining to your father and mother and other close guests why your ex-husband is at your wedding.

On gift giving and registry.

It is a big Wedding Etiquette no-no to ask for cash gifts from your guests. Although it is a reality that newlyweds need cash as startup money since they need to rent a bigger place or buy new appliances that the two of them need,
you don't want to look like a greedy bride for asking for some cash.

Let them decide what to give. If they have decided to give you cash, then say your thanks. But don't ever ask them to fund a mortgage or fund a charity that you will establish as a wedding gift.

Registry card is acceptable although modern Wedding Etiquette objects to insertion of the registry card in the invitation. Wedding Etiquette specialists say that brides should put up an online registry card and inform your guests through your invitation that you have an online registry and they may want to look it up in case they would decide to buy you gifts from your registry.

How to Find Cheap Bridesmaid Dresses Without the Designer Cost

Weddings are an expensive occasion. We are all aware that, except for the brides dress, the next most expensive dress is the bridesmaids dress. You have to remember that the wedding day is the day for the bride and groom. The bride should me the center of attention not the bridesmaid.

There are thousands of cheap bridesmaid dresses that can be found which look identical to expensive designer one's as well. Do keep in mind that attention will be focused at the bride and groom, not the bridesmaid. Many ask whether cheaper bridesmaid dresses means cheaper quality. Some designers find a better deal on material than others and in some cases some even use recycled material which in result also helps the environment.

There are many places one can find cheap bridesmaid dresses. They include small shops and over the internet.

Bridesmaid Dresses Visited

There are a whole bunch of horror stories about nasty looking dresses that were chosen as bridesmaid dresses. There are still plenty of fine looking bridesmaid dresses out there, so be warned bridal attendants.

I had the honor of paying the maid of honor for my best friend's wedding and we recently checked out a bridal store to try on our gowns. The bride chose a few bridal gowns and she chose a few bridesmaid dresses in advance. I tried on three bridesmaid dresses and I was relieved and impressed with the bride's excellent fashion sense. When she told me that she wanted the bridesmaids to wear pink, strapless gowns, my heart may have stopped. I imagined a shocking pink flamingo look, form-fitting dress, that would point out every single flaw on my frame - yuck. The bride and I agreed which bridesmaid dress looked the best on the Internet, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that her number two choice, we liked even better. When I tried it on it felt comfortable and I felt at ease with that particular bridesmaid dress.

The bridesmaid dresses or a whitish-pink, and though they are strapless, not my favorite choice, the bride decided to incorporate as an accessory for those of us who prefer not to attend church looking like Madonna. The jacket is clean and elegant, just as the lovely pink gown was. This choice was really a no-brainer for the bride and I was relieved that I only had to try on three . Fortunately for both of us she chose a great gown.

There were bridesmaid dresses that ballooned at the bottom like something out of Cinderella. There were bright orange dresses that made us look like the great pumpkin.
