Tulips!

Posted by Doncrack Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Ever since Valentine's Day I've been really into tulips.

winter wedding

Posted by Doncrack Tuesday, February 26, 2008

I'm sitting in front of the fire in Whistler, BC Canada right now, watching the snow fall. That put me in the mood for some "winter wedding" ideas. How amazing is this wedding shot from the famous Jessica Claire? Enjoy!

Love, love, love these preppy dos for your wedding day (via brides.com). And yes, I do confess I have an obsession for headbands. They are the perfect preppy accessory.

Casual Black & White Maids

Posted by Doncrack

I've gotten a request from a summer bride looking for bridesmaids dresses that will fulfuill her black & white preppy affair. Here are my favorites via nordstrom. I would advise - stay away from graphic prints as they will look to overdone with your multiple maids!

Eliza J Strapless Party Dress - $158 (it comes also comes in lots of jewel tones)

BCBG Strapless Floor Gown - $340 (this one is expensive, but I LOVE it, I mean it looks like toile, hello?)

Hi Friends!

Sorry for the lack of posts last week. Things have been a little crazy at work and I have just been playing catch up physically since my trip to NYC. And do you remember me telling you about that destination wedding in Mexico, well the husband and I leave at 6 am tomorrow for sunny Playa del Carmen. It is going to be a fantastic trip to celebrate the wedding of Mr. Preppy Wedding’s best friend from college.

Can you see me here at our hotel with a drink in hand?

I’ve got some posts saved up for you all, so I’m hoping that you’ll be hearing from me even as I sit on the beach with a margarita in hand. Oh and since I know you’re wondering, I got this fantastic dress for the wedding, this staple for the rehearsal dinner and a bunch of cute finds from Target to round out the mix. I’ll also be taking pictures so you’ll get to see all the fun we’ve had when I return.

Before I go, I do have some great wedding finds for you this Tuesday morning.

For you girls who want to do suits for your groom & groomsmen, run over to this sale at Joseph A Banks. They have their fantastic year round suits on sale for $99.00 in a variety of colors. This is what our groomsmen wore and they loved the suits.

Check out Maggie’s real-life super preppy winter wedding. I created a storyboard for her here, but now you can see the results of her big day. Congrats Maggie!

And I am loving this fantastic silhouette necklace. Do you think it would be weird to wear a LuLu silhouette around all day?

So, look out for posts this week & next. And I promise lots of details from our destination wedding adventure!

Low Centrepieces

Posted by Doncrack Wednesday, February 20, 2008

I am loving these low centrepieces. As glam as high ones are, I prefer low ones so that everyone at the table can see each other. As you can tell, I haven't yet narrowed down a colour, but all of these are really gorgeous!

Citrus!

Citrus themes can be a fun way to add colour and texture to your wedding... especially if it is an outdoor summer wedding.

I'm loving these gorgeous and very different natural vases from Jamali Gardens. I can just imagine them with moss balls, green succulants, or flowers in them. Clean white flowers would also look fab!

Bouqet Wraps

Posted by Doncrack Friday, February 15, 2008

I'm quite torn between loving extravagant bouquet wraps, and thinking they are a bit over the top. I guess it depends on the wedding, and the dress. These wraps, however, are quite delightful and fun, and add a little sparkle to your photos.

Preppy Wedding Albums

Posted by Doncrack

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. Things have been a little crazy with the traveling and with work. I promise to have bunches of good stuff for you next week.

Hope everyone had a fun Valentine's Day. Mr. Preppy Wedding got me some cute monogrammed desk accessories and I got him this cool watch and the super cute family tree by Good Stock Designs (check out Kim's site, it is amazing). We topped it off with a casual dinner here and watching Lost together for dessert.

As March approaches, I am surprised to see that I have almost been married for a year. So, I am setting a goal to put together my wedding album before my actual anniversary. Here are some options I am considering. I am leaning towards the first because I want something simple and timeless. Have you all found any other fantastic ways to make an album?

Together Book (they bind your photographs into a linen album with a stamped cover)
My Publisher
Martha Stewart Photo Book (via Kodak Gallery)

I'm also thinking of doing these cute MS mini-books for my bridesmaids, they are oh so cute.

Grass!

Posted by Doncrack Sunday, February 10, 2008

The trend that I've noticed cropping up (sorry I couldn't resist!!) all over the place is wheatgrass! Once the main-stay of environmental chic, wheatgrass is sprouting up everywhere (heheh sorry couldn't resist again!) at modern and elegant weddings without a crunchy theme.
